Football Weekly

We’ve got a full week of football ahead.

There’s too many games to list here with mid-week action from the Barclays Premier League, Serie A, Ligue 1, the Brazilian State Leagues, Copa Libertadores and of course the Semi-Finals of the Copa del Rey where Barcelona take on Gary Neville’s Valencia and Celta de Vigo tackle Sevilla. .

The weekend kicks off Friday with the usual games from Spain, France, Germany, Holland and England’s Sky Bet Championship. also on the cards in a little North American Derby when the USA hosts Canada Friday night at 10.30pm.

There’s a full program from the Barclays Premier League with the pick of the round being league leaders Leicester visit to 2nd place Manchester City and Manchester United travel down to London to face a resurgent Chelsea. West Ham head to the south coast to face Southampton who lie just 3 points behind them.

In Germany Bayern are 8 points clear of 2nd place Dortmund and travel to 4th place Leverkusen who are a massive 21 points in the rear view mirror. Bayern boast the best attack in the league with Lewandowski and Muller bagging 33 goals between them. Leverkusen are no slouches and in Javier Hernandez aka. Chicharito have one of the best goal poachers in the league with the former Manchester United man hitting 16 goals in 19 games so far this season. They’ll be big interest in this game in North America as Chicharito is adored by his Mexican countrymen and Fox will be broadcasting the game live on it’s main channel FOX 5. Don’t forget, you can catch every Bundesliga game live this weekend at Smithfield Hall so don’t miss a moment of the action.

In France PSG are running away with the league having dropped just 6 points all season and Olympique de Marseille will have the mammoth task of trying to take 3 points off the champions elect. It’s Le Classique. OM v PSG. NO love lost. Simply the biggest fixture the French Football calendar. Though OM have no chance of the title a win over their most hated rivals will feel like a championship considering the gulf in bank accounts. 67,000 will be asked into the newly renovated Stade Velodrome. Kick Off is 3pm. it should be fun.

Of course there’s more than this so please check our Football Schedule.

The 68,500 state of the art Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, California will host the 50th edition of the NFL Superbowl. Normally the Superbowl is given a Roman numeral but to celebrate the 50th edition of the trophy the commissioner decided that the NFL would simply call it Superbowl 50. Incidentally it Would have been Superbowl L in Roman numerals so maybe the commis made a good call.

Brewmaster’s Reserve

Brewmaster’s Reserve

Try some of the Brooklyn Brewery Brewmaster’s Reserve at Smithfield Hall. We have added a 29th draught beer line and will be changing it on a regular basis. To get it all going we’ve stayed local and will be pouring the Quadraceratops from Brooklyn Brewery. It is a strong dark abbey ale, complex and fruity without being overwhelming. At 9.9%ABV this Belgian Quadruppel-style ale is thick with flavors of black cherries, toasted caramel and dark stone fruit.  Try it for a limited time at Smithfield Hall.

We are happy to announce opening of Smithfield Hall. Smithfield Tavern was very close to us all and it was a sad day for when it’s doors were shuttered. But in the great City of New York change is the constant and nothing stays the same for too long. Read More
