Friday June 10th at 3pm EST on hosts France will take on Romania in the opening game of the 15th Edition of the UEFA European Championship.
France hosted the very first championship, well it was more like a final phase as the tournament was at the semi-final phase. The world was a very different place then, only 17 countries entered the competition and 3 of the semi-finalists no longer exist as countries. The old Soviet Union defeated Yugoslavia 2-1 in the final while Czechoslovakia beat France 2-0 to take 3rd place.
Skip 56 years to 2016 and UEFA has grown to 54 member nations and the Championship has expanded to 24 teams. The last time France hosted the tournament they went on to become champions when they beat Spain 2-0 in the final with the great Michel Platini scoring 9 goals in just 5 games including the dramatic 119th minute winner in extra time of the semi-final against Portugal. Les Bleus are the bookies favorites but we’ve got lot of football to play before the final on July 10th when 2 teams will take to the field at the Stade de France to see who will be crowned European Champions.
Smithfield Hall will be broadcasting every game live with full audio so you won’t miss a moment.

Lebron and the Cavaliers will be looking to bring Cleveland its first major sports title since since 1964 when the Cleveland Browns won the NFL Championship Game.

The Pens have 3 cups to their name whilst San Jose are making their first appearance at the Stanley Cup Finals on the back of their 4-2 win over St. Louis. Pittsburgh probably had the harder of the two routes to the finals as the had to get through the New York Rangers and the Washington Capitals before beating defending Stanley Cup champions Tampa Bay in seven games.

Try some of the Brooklyn Brewery Brewmaster’s Reserve at Smithfield Hall. We have added a 29th draught beer line and will be changing it on a regular basis. To get it all going we’ve stayed local and will be pouring the Quadraceratops from Brooklyn Brewery. It is a strong dark abbey ale, complex and fruity without being overwhelming. At 9.9%ABV this Belgian Quadruppel-style ale is thick with flavors of black cherries, toasted caramel and dark stone fruit. Try it for a limited time at Smithfield Hall.
We are happy to announce opening of Smithfield Hall. Smithfield Tavern was very close to us all and it was a sad day for when it’s doors were shuttered. But in the great City of New York change is the constant and nothing stays the same for too long. Read More
